Scientific company launches instant coronavirus test

A UK testing laboratory has launched a new blood test that can detect antibodies related to the coronavirus in a small blood sample. The pin-prick test is quick and simple, and results are ready in around 15 minutes.

This is an 'on-site' test - so there's no need to send blood samples off to a laboratory to process you results. The user simply places a drop of blood on a testing device, adds a drop of buffer fluid, and waits for the lines to appear (similar to a pregnancy test). You can find out more and buy a coronavirus test here.

The IgM-IgG Combined Antibody Rapid Test is similar to the test used by the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention during the early stages of the outbreak in late 2019
